FCC Ex Parte regarding Digital Must Carry, the Retransmission Consent Quiet Period, and Modification of the News Corp Conditions

Submission Date:

Dear Ms. Dortch:

Under 47 C.F.R. § 1.1206(b), we electronically provide this notice of an ex parte presentation
in the dockets listed above. On June 23, 2008, the following persons met with Cristina Chou Pauze, Legal Advisor to FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell:

Matthew M. Polka, ACA, President and CEO
Ross J. Lieberman, ACA, Vice President of Government Affairs
Jeremy M. Kissel, Attorney for ACA

The purpose of the meeting was to explain the need for a digital must carry exemption for small cable operators, and to urge prompt Commission action on this matter. Also discussed at the meeting was ACA’s concern that upcoming retransmission consent negotiations could cause confusion surrounding the digital television transition, as well as ACA’s opposition to News Corp.’s petition seeking modification of the conditions placed on it by the Commission when it purchased DirecTV.
