PITTSBURGH, PA., January 4, 2008 —In a filing with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) today, the American Cable Association (ACA) urged the FCC to adopt news rules that would allow small and medium-sized cable operators the flexibility to provide consumers with more choices and better value. Representing 1,100 cable operators serving more than 8 million consumers, ACA’s comments came as part of the current FCC review of retransmission consent and programming tying arrangements.
PITTSBURGH, January 16, 2008 —During its first quarter meeting, the American Cable Association’s (ACA) board of directors appointed Steve Friedman, COO of Wave Broadband of Kirkland, Wash., as vice chair. Friedman is one of ACA’s most veteran board members, serving on ACA’s board several times since the organization’s founding in 1993. Friedman currently serves as ACA’s treasurer and as a member of ACA’s executive committee.
“The ACA supports the efforts of C-SPAN, Discovery Communications and others that are contesting the legality of ‘dual-must-carry’ rules,” said Matthew M. Polka, ACA president and CEO.

PITTSBURGH, February 8, 2008 – The American Cable Association (ACA) this year will proudly celebrate 15 years of representing independent cable operators throughout America. Since 1993, the ACA has represented small- and medium-sized cable operators before the U.S.Congress, Federal Communications Commission and other federal agencies. In the years before ACA was formed, small and often rural community cable providers had little support and stood alone without a unified voice in their legislative, regulatory and business battles.
