Event Info: 15th Anniversary Celebration

The year was 1993.

The cost of a first-class stamp was 29 cents.

Bill Clinton became the 42nd President of the United States.

Reed Hundt was the FCC Chairman.

Toronto beat the Phillies to win the World Series.

The World Wide Web was in its infancy and Google wouldn’t exist for 5 more years.

The final episode of Cheers aired.

And prompted by the far-reaching ramifications of the 1992 Cable Act, independent cable operators from across the country joined together to create a unified voice on regulatory and legislative issues. The group was dubbed the Small Cable Business Association (SCBA), a name that was later changed to the American Cable Association.

Fifteen years after the founding of our organization, much has changed. Technology has rapidly advanced. Services have converged. ACA has grown in size and influence. Through it all, independent cable continues to be the leader in CONNECTING HOMETOWN AMERICA.

With a “15 years fighting for independents” theme, ACA has planned a series of activities throughout 2008 to honor our members and their achievements. The pinnacle event will be a special evening anniversary celebration on April 7. We hope you’ll join us!
